Crantock Beach
50° 24' 29" N 5° 7' 8" WCrantock Beach is a popular location for summer visitors offering a stunning sandy beach backed by dunes.
The River Gannel forms a natural boundary between the parishes of Newquay and Crantock. The bay and beach is part of the River Gannel Estuary – with the small river carving out a sheltered sandy haven between Newquay’s East Pentire headland and the West Pentire headland.
Crantock is a huge sandy beach at low tide which becomes very small at high tide. The beach has strong currents and good surf so less experienced swimmers and surfers should take extra care and caution. The Gannel River makes a lovely place to swim and paddleboard in the summer months.

History of Crantock Beach

Directions to Crantock Beach
To reach Crantock Beach and the River Gannel from the A30, take the exit for the A392 towards Newquay. Follow the A392 for about 6 miles, passing through Quintrell Downs. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A3075 towards Crantock. After approximately 3 miles, turn left onto the B3285, signposted for Crantock. Follow the B3285 into the village of Crantock. For Crantock Beach, continue through the village, following signs to the National Trust car park, which provides access to both the beach and the River Gannel.

The closest parking for Crantock Beach is the National Trust car park (charges apply), which provides ample parking and is close to the beach. Crantock Beach is a popular location during the summer so be sure to arrive early to guarantee getting a space.
