History of Polhawn Fort
Polhawn Fort is a historic fortification located on the coast of Cornwall, near the village of Cawsand. The fort was built in the 1860s as part of a network of coastal defenses designed to protect the British coastline from enemy invasion.
The fort was constructed using locally quarried stone and features a number of gun emplacements, underground chambers, and other defensive features. It was in active use until the end of World War II, after which it was decommissioned and left to decay.
In the 1970s, the fort was purchased by a private owner and converted into a unique wedding and events venue. Today, the fort is a popular destination for couples looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding venue, and also hosts corporate events, retreats, and other special occasions.
The fort’s location on the coast offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including nearby beaches and the English Channel. The fort has been carefully restored and maintained over the years, and remains an important part of Cornwall’s military history and cultural heritage.
