The quiet village of Porthoustock on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula is popular for fishing, kayaking and scuba diving.

The village itself is small with a handful of cottages, a village hall and public toilets. Porthoustock’s most distinctive feature is the large concrete silo on the left-hand side of the bay, this was once used to store aggregate from the quarry. Today the quarry has a quay on the right-hand side of the bay to load aggregate onto boats.

Porthoustock is a great place for multiple activities with fishing being very popular from the beach, pier or from the rocks behind. Kayaking is also popular as many other bays are within easy reach including Porthkerris, Porthallow, Godrevy and if you’re feeling adventerous – Coverack. Porthoustock is often used by scuba divers, either straight off the beach or by boat, with easy access to the nearby Manacles Reef.

Porthoustock is sheltered in all but easterly winds, making it popular with families who are able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the village and calm water.
