Readymoney Cove
50° 19' 43" N 4° 38' 38" WReadymoney Cove is a a small, sheltered and sandy beach on the edge of Fowey.
Readymoney Cove is sheltered by cliffs close to the mouth of the River Fowey and bounded on one side by the medieval part of the Fowey and on the other by St Catherine’s Castle.
St Catherine’s Castle is one of a pair of small artillery forts built by Henry VIII in the 1530s to defend Fowey Harbour, the other being Polruan Castle situated across the river.
Readymoney Cove is popular for swimming within the cove, but not in the Fowey Estuary due to the busy boat traffic.
