Lamorna Cove
50° 3' 43" N 5° 33' 42" WThe picturesque Lamorna Cove sits at the foot of a wooded valley between Mousehole and Porthcurno.
Lamorna is the sort of place which wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of Poldark, a timeless place which is virtually untouched other than the carpark and café being the only modern developments.
There is a small sand and pebble beach at the foot of the slipway when the tide is low, but at high tide the beach is completely covered with only large boulders to sit on. This is a popular beach for swimming and there is also good scuba diving here. However, there is no lifeguard service so caution is advised.

History of Lamorna Cove
Lamorna Cove is a picturesque cove located on the south coast of Cornwall. The cove has a rich history, dating back to the Bronze Age. The cove was once a popular landing spot for smugglers, and in the 18th century, it became a busy port for the transportation of granite, used in the construction of London’s famous buildings. The cove was also a popular haunt for artists in the 20th century, with many renowned artists, including Alfred Munnings and Laura Knight, visiting the area and painting the stunning coastal scenery.
During World War II, Lamorna Cove played a vital role in the defense of the UK, with a battery of anti-aircraft guns stationed there to protect against enemy aircraft. The guns were manned by the Home Guard, and the remains of the gun emplacements can still be seen today.
