Kynance Cove
49° 58' 19" N 5° 13' 39" WKynance Cove is probably one of the most photographed and well-known beaches in Cornwall.
The contrast between the cove’s white sandy beach and the dark red and green serpentine rock produces a breath-taking sight.
There is a steep 15 minute walk down to the cove from the car park at the top of the cliff and crossing the ‘beach’ at the bottom is difficult due to uneven and slippery rocks.
At low tide you can explore the towering rocks stacks and the caves. At high tide there is very little beach, with just some rocks exposed. Because of this, it is always best to visit at mid to low tide otherwise space is extremely limited as the sandy beach becomes covered.
Located just above the beach is an eco-friendly café selling pasties, fresh sandwiches, baguettes, homemade cakes and cream teas along with beach goods.
The beach can get extremely busy during the summer months and the car park is often closed due to limited parking spaces.
Kynance is owned and looked after by the National Trust. The car park is free to National Trust members.
From Kynance there is a fantastic two mile scenic walk around the coast to Lizard Point, mainland UK’s most southerly point.
