The area around Lantic Bay is dotted with historical landmarks, including the nearby village of Polruan, which has a long history dating back to the medieval period. Polruan’s castle, built in the 14th century, served as a defensive structure to protect against French and Spanish pirates.
The village of Fowey, just across the river, played a crucial role during the English Civil War and was a significant port in medieval times. The region’s rich history is reflected in its ancient buildings, narrow streets, and maritime traditions, which continue to attract history enthusiasts and visitors interested in Cornwall’s cultural heritage.
