Little Great Molunan Beaches
50° 8' 40" N 5° 0' 56" WLittle Great Molunan Beaches are tucked away in the shelter of St Anthony Head overlooking the Carrick Roads.
Across the water are views to Pendennis Castle and Falmouth. On the water there is always plenty of activity with yachts, commercial shipping and ferries running to and from Falmouth and St Mawes.
There are a triplet of coves along this little stretch of coast; Little Molunan, Great Molunan and a third, unnamed cove. Great Molunan is unsurprisingly the largest and most popular of the three, a sheltered section of golden sand backed by low green cliffs. Unlike Little Molunan, there is still a small beach here at high tide.
Little Molunan joins with Great Molunan on low tide. Both coves have some good rock pools to explore and are relatively sheltered making them fairly family friendly.
Despite only being a stones throw from St Mawes and Falmouth, the Molunan beaches are on the other side of various water ways to both. Whilst a ferry from St Mawes may be the answer during the summer, any other time of year you are looking at a long drive from most locations. This keeps the beaches pretty exclusive and visitors are as likely to arrive here via boat as by car.
The beaches are well worth the walk from nearby Place, a beautiful mix of woodland, countryside and coast all within a few miles.
